Solid Sound Doctrine March 12, 2010

Filed under: My World,Open Arms Ministry,Sound Doctrine — Alexander Petrov @ 5:18 pm

Several weeks back a close friend of mine, Erik Miller has given me a link to a sermon by Mark Driscoll. He wanted to see what I think of it. Well, did I have things to say after watching it. The sermon was pretty rad & it did speak to me big time, rebuking & exhorting & whatnot.

Since then I have been spending at least couple of hours every day listening & watching sermons by pastor Mark. They’re pretty solid. & if you have been lacking some solid teaching – you should click here & visit their site. I especially recommend the Trial theme.

P.S. Anika & Melissa are going to the airport to get Annie tonight. It’s snowing & the guy who’s driving doesn’t even know how to get to Kyiv. I just pray they actually make it there & back. That is already a good stretch for my faith 🙂

Priluki Trip March 9, 2010

Priluki trip went great. Got to hang out with Vlad & his family, doing some catching up & quality conversations… I don’t think I’d ever heard him teach, & it has blessed my heart to see him being of the very same spirit Paul Sisemore was of. Very vivid & pretty radical. Soild too. Happy to have seen the church in a healthy state with much grace for people & good vision in their hearts.

Yana has a very pretty voice. Bogdan Troglodit’s matured up. & Vlad makes some awesome bliny.

The facility is of course pretty phenomenal. I think if the Lord provides us with a place twice smaller in size – it is still going to be spacious enough for the ministry needs in the near future. Would be rocking if the backyard was at least as big though…

Our ride back was four hours on a freezing van. Which is probably why neither of us feels too healthy today. I was lost in deep thoughts most of the ride back to Sumy. Been thinking a lot about the importance of living my life in a way that when it’s over – I get to smile & leave a solid fruit in the lives of those God has placed in my life. Apostle Paul has communicated the importance of bearing a lasting fruit & finishing well. I have much learning & growing in meekness & God’s grace ahead of me. But I am very much determined to do so.

Got to have Vova & Losha over last night. It was good. Praying they will become a part of the fruit I am to bear.

Mi Casa Es Su Casa March 5, 2010

So. I thought I’d introduce you to the place where my day begins. Place where I spend most of my nights & hardly any of my days.

Here you go. The hallway. My kitchen. My bathroom. & my office. Normally it would be a bedroom, but it just doesn’t feel like a bedroom to me. Feels like an office. Now my living room feels like a bedroom, so that’s where I sleep. But I won’t show you. Too private 🙂

I really love my office room though. It’s perfect for starting your day & studying. Unfortunately not too good for loud music.

The place will change once I’ve had lived there for a little while longer, & once there are people staying there with me regularly. But there you go 🙂

P.S. Those of you that don’t know – the place is less than ten minute walk from my front door to the girls’ front door (which is where I am at right now, since they have WiFi & pizza), so that is a major bonus.

Back On The Blogging Track March 3, 2010

Filed under: Open Arms Ministry — Alexander Petrov @ 11:25 pm

Greetings! I have shamelessly neglected both: my Blogspot & my WordPress accounts. The plan was to be having regular posts as the winter comes. This winter was a bit different from other ones, & I remained unfruitful. Now, that I get to live my dream as I had joined Open Arms on a regular basis – I am passionate to use everything & anything that works to spread the word & share the news on what God is doing here in Sumy, Ukraine.

I will get back into the habit of blogging regularly. So if you care to keep up with it – please be checking on this page. I think I will be posting anything from the ministry news to my personal experiences of different things. Meanwhile, please be encouraged to visit our ministry page, & drop me an e-mail, if you’d like to get subscribed to a newsletter.

God bless,

Sashko

My lil sister is married now. April 29, 2009

So, my lil sister is a married woman now. I still feel slightly out of it. It is a wonder how fast the time goes by. We all say that now & then concerning different things in our lives. You meet a friend from school, or see somebody’s kids for the first time in a year… But it is especially shocking when you marry off your lil sister whose diapers you used to change. Especially if you yourself aren’t married 🙂
It was a great wedding. It blesses my heart to see my sister this happy. For the first time in so many years. I am excited to witness her & Jake’s marriage. Very excited.

It is things like this that make me feel like my laziness is no biggie. When it actually is. I do appreciate my ipod. Very much so. But… seriously?

Recent Reasons For Happiness March 31, 2009

Filed under: LIFE — Alexander Petrov @ 4:55 pm

The last several days were really great. I have discovered many small things to make (& what’s more important, keep) me happy. The main blessing was discovering more about my favorite singer, & actually getting a hold of her! I have really been learning a lot from her approach of things & people, & can’t even put in words how grateful I am for her.
It’s been nice to finally get a taste of the spring, & not have to wear too much clothes. The sun’s been shining. My friend Vadeem & I took a walk that has turned into a hike (would be strange if it didn’t). Conversations about weddings & life… church politics & businesses… a dam & swamps… Here are some shots from the village called Low Mills:

My sister Ira & her fiance (well, husband on the paper already) Jake came to visit today. That was fun. I like him, & am very blessed my sister is marrying a nice & respectful man. It has been amazing to me to learn just how very similar his & my taste in movies are. Like, last night he FaceBooked me, saying how he’s got these two movies he’s bringing for me. They happened to be exactly the two movies I had here waiting for him!
